Introduction to the project

Helped design a concept-platform that provides real-time energy insights using AR and NFC for Rabobank. Users could scan appliances to track energy usage instantly. This project sharpened my skills in UX, data visualization and sustainable design, balancing technology and accessibility.

Research

Began by exploring how users currently monitor energy consumption. Interviews and desk research revealed that most people struggle to connect abstract numbers on their bills to daily behavior. Our challenge became: how can we make invisible energy usage visible, intuitive and actionable?

Ideation

Sketched concepts were developed based on the flowchart created from the user flow earlier in the project. This structure helped visualize how users would navigate through the app and where interaction points could be improved. From there, I explored ideas that merged gamification with functionality, experimenting with AR and NFC scanning to allow users to instantly track the energy usage of specific appliances.

Results

The final concept was a mobile app that visualizes energy data in a simple, friendly way. Users could scan appliances, view real-time usage and receive personalized tips for saving energy.
